Tree Plantation
It was business cum pleasure for Rotary Club of Thane when Rotarians, Rotaryanns, Rotaractors and Interactors of our club along with many other clubs from Thane & Kalyan went to the Hills near Mumbra for a tree plantation drive. Nearly 5000 saplings were planted on the slopes and hill top in heavy monsoon showers by nearly 500 Rotarians and Rotary family members.
President Rajeev and First Lady Rekha led a team of 100 volunteers from the Rotary Club of Thane & Associated Interact Clubs up a steep and slippery hillside in pouring rain to plant the trees. There were many a slips and falls but it was worth the effort. The hillside will turn green in the next few years and there will be lesser landslides and more birds in the hills.
And it wasn't just hard work. The Interactors, Rotaractors and young at heart Rotarians and Rotary Anns of all ages had great fun trekking up the hills and getting wet in the rain.
